It's simple to have emails relayed as SMS text messages. Make it easy for friends and colleagues to contact you whilst you are on the move, or have important email notifications routed to your mobile.
Safeguard have provided reliable internet based solutions since 1999, and our award winning system uses multiple mailservers in different physical locations enabling for high capacity and reliability.
The email to sms service works in three ways: Simply choose how you would like to use this service to find out more...
Unique features include.
Open Sending - Send to any Mobile
Using the service in what we call 'open sending' mode allows you to send emails from one or more addresses of your choosing and have those relayed as an SMS text message to any mobile number you wish.
It's easy to define email addresses that are allowed to send from your account, enabling them to text with speed from the comfort of their keyboard.
How does it work?
First of all you will need to pre-define the email address of the sender, easily managed when logged in to your account. The system can then recognise the email address when it contacts us at which point our we will relay the contents of that email.
Once an email address is setup it can then send emails to...
mobile number@text.safeguardcomms.com (eg. 07917123999@text.safeguardcomms.com)
At which point the first 160 characters (or more if you choose) of the email would be relayed on as an SMS text message to the specified mobile number. Your account will be charged 1 credit per text message sent for most locations. Some destinations are charged at higher rates...
Predefined Sending - Create a email to sms alias
Using the service in pre defined mode allows you to setup email addresses which you can give to contacts. Emails sent to this address will be relayed to a pre defined mobile number, allowing you to receive emails sent to this address as SMS text messages on your mobile phone.
Use this as a high priority contact email address, or forward important emails that arrive in your existing mail account for immediate notification.
How does it work?
From your Alert Cascade account you would setup an 'alias' (subject to availability) at the aql.com domain, for example the alias 'fred' would give you the email address 'fred@alertcascade.co.uk'. Alongside this alias you will assign the mobile phone number you would like the message to be sent to.
When an email is sent to this address, the first 160 characters of the message will be relayed as an SMS to your mobile phone. You can also auto-forward messages to your normal email address, so that you have a copy of the entire email (subject to size limits of 2MB per email).
Your account will be charged 1 credit per text message sent for most locations. Some destinations are charged at higher rates.
Can I have more than one address?
You can set up multiple aliases at the Safeguardcomms.co.uk domain. For example you would be able to setup an address and mobile number for each member of staff in your company making it simple to contact them while out of the office.
How do I set up an address?
To setup a 'pre defined' email to sms address you first require an Alert Cascade account, to setup an account. Login to your account and follow the email to sms link.
One Email can send to Thousands of Mobiles
You can use email to sms to send a single message from your email client to a pre-defined distribution list of mobile numbers. This will then be relayed on to the mobile numbers on the list you prepared.
Use this to contact groups of individuals large and small as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Creating a distribution list.
To create a distribution list, login to your account a follow the 'setup' menu, followed by 'manage distribution lists'.
You can copy your mobile numbers into a distribution list - The format of the list is either one mobile number per line with no commas or: mobilenumber1,mobilenumber2,mobilenumber3, ñ ie appended by commas with no spaces.
Paste this list of numbers into the "mobile number list" box on site, enter a name for the list, and press 'validate'. You will be presented with the imported data and asked to confirm it appears as expected. When this is ok, the distribution list will be saved for use.
